Asia Cup 2023 Venue: Decision After The IPL 2023 Final

The Asia Cup 2023 is just around the corner, and cricket lovers around the world are eagerly awaiting news about the venue. The suspense surrounding the decision has reached a new level, with the revelation that the final verdict will be announced during the IPL 2023 final on May 28.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary, Jay Shah, disclosed that representatives from the Asian Cricket Council will be present at the IPL final, where the final decision regarding the Asia Cup venue will be made. The collective wisdom and insight of these top dignitaries will be invaluable in reaching a conclusion that serves to the interests of all participating nations.

Awaiting the Final Decision for Asia Cup 2023 

Jay Shah stated, “As of now, the decision with regards to hosting of Asia Cup 2023 hasn’t yet been finalized. We are busy with IPL, but the top dignitaries of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), Bangladesh, and Afghanistan Cricket Board are coming to watch the IPL final. We will have a discussion and take a final decision in due course,” according to an interview with PTI.

The ‘Hybrid Model’ Proposal

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Najam Sethi, has put forth an intriguing proposal known as the ‘hybrid model’ for hosting the Asia Cup 2023. According to this model, four matches would be played in Pakistan, the host country, while India would participate in all their matches at a neutral venue.

A Gathering of Cricketing Nations

It is worth mentioning that representatives from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will also be in attendance at the IPL final, creating an ideal platform for further negotiations and potential agreement on the new PCB proposal. If the stakeholders consent to Pakistan’s extended hosting, the number of matches held in the country could surpass the initial four matches.
